Description

Amazon is looking for Investigation Specialist II. In this role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the RPE team, conducting Tier-2 investigations across multiple regions and work streams. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to investigate suspicious activity, address escalations, and build trust-based relationships. Responsibilities include analyzing data using Excel and SQL, identifying SOP gaps, mentoring junior investigators, and driving systemic workflow improvements. This is a work-from-office role in a 24x7 rotational shift environment, requiring 24+ months of experience in audit, compliance, or investigations.

Key job responsibilities

Fluent in English (spoken, written, read)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), and basic SQL

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 24+ months in audit, compliance, risk, or investigations

Experience writing/evolving SOPs, audit checklists, and COEs

Strong communication skills; able to present findings to senior stakeholders

Works independently, manages audit responsibilities with minimal supervision

Knowledge of 7QC tools and quality management methodologies

Flexible to work rotational shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays

Basic Qualifications

  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Experience in payments or e-commerce

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • 24+ months of work experience in audit, compliance, risk management, and/or investigations
    • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and ability to write basic SQL queries to pull and analyze data from multiple databases
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills — ability to write WBR inputs, document SOPs, and present findings to senior stakeholders (up to L7)
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing team-level responsibilities
    • Ability to follow and evolve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and resolve edge cases using experience and judgment

Preferred Qualifications

    1. Proven ability to identify quality trends and compliance patterns from audit data to surface areas of risk and opportunity to management
    1. Experience conducting root-cause analyses (RCA) and documenting audit findings for process improvement and corrective action
    1. Experience supporting or leading pilot projects, UATs, and audit framework enhancements
    1. Familiarity with multiple investigation tools and product workflows or similar audit/compliance environments
