Flexible availability. 20 - 30 hours a week (may include evenings and weekends)
Rate: $25 - $27 Per Hour
SUMMARY: Adaptive Skills Training/Career Pathway Specialist is a hybrid role that is responsible for designing and implementing adaptive skills training plans under the supervision of an Adaptive Skills Training Professional as well as supporting New Horizon’s Youth Navigation Center programs. This role involves working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to address skill deficits in communication, social functioning, and other adaptive skills areas. Guided by student preferences, services may be delivered in school settings, NH Campus, within the community, at their home, and/or remotely. The AST/ Career Pathway Specialist fosters a welcoming, engaging, and outcome-oriented environment for adults with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: By Program Area
1. Coordinated Career Pathways: Career Pathway Navigator partners with Members to develop and implement a Person-Centered Career Plan (PCCP) that reflects each individual’s strengths, interests, and goals.
2. Adaptive Skills Training: Collaborate with the supervising Adaptive Skills Training Professional to develop individualized adaptive skills training plans.
3. Pre-Employment Services: Support Job Exploration, Postsecondary Counseling, Workplace Readiness Training, Self-Advocacy Training, and Paid Student Work-Experience.
4. Digital Literacy Playbook: Deliver engaging and accessible training modules: Privacy & Safety, Communication Skills, and Relationship Building that equip participants with the knowledge and skills to safely, responsibly, and effectively navigate the digital world.
5. Travel Training: Build Independent travel skills for safe and confident community access.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· This position may involve working in member’s homes, community settings or training facilities. Travel may be required to support members in various locations.
· Flexible work hours to accommodate program schedules.
Requirements
- Must speak English
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Registered Behavior Technician Certification
- ACRE Certified in Customized Employment (New Horizons will train if applicant does not have)
- Experience with special needs / developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Driver's License for 3+ years required. Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be willing to drive an 8-passanger van.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
