Position Overview:

We are seeking an expert Looker Developer to lead the design and development of scalable, visually compelling dashboards and enable self-service analytics across the organization. This role will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate complex data into intuitive insights that drive decision-making.

The ideal candidate combines deep Looker development expertise, strong data modeling skills, and a passion for building intuitive data experiences that empower business teams to explore and analyze data independently.

Job Responsibilties:

Looker Development & Dashboard Design

  • Design and build high-quality, visually appealing Looker dashboards that support executive reporting and operational decision-making.
  • Develop scalable LookML models, explores, and views to ensure consistent and reusable analytics across teams.
  • Implement best practices for dashboard performance, usability, and maintainability.

    • Self-Service Analytics Enablement

  • Enable business teams to independently explore data through well-structured Looker explores and semantic layers.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into self-service analytical capabilities.
  • Develop reusable datasets and curated metrics that reduce reliance on engineering teams.

    • Data Modeling & Semantic Layer

  • Build and maintain the semantic layer in Looker that serves as the single source of truth for key metrics.
  • Design data models optimized for BigQuery performance and scalability.
  • Ensure consistent definitions for core metrics such as sales, margin, customer engagement, and retention.

    • Data Visualization & Storytelling

  • Create intuitive and visually engaging dashboards that highlight key insights and trends.
  • Apply best practices in data visualization, UX, and information hierarchy to make dashboards easy to interpret.

    • Performance Optimization

  • Optimize Looker dashboards and queries to improve query performance and cost efficiency in BigQuery.
  • Troubleshoot slow queries and implement caching, aggregate tables, and optimized SQL patterns.

    • Basic Qualifications:

    At least 5+ years of experience developing within Looker
    Excellent SQL skills and advanced proficiency in LookML.
    High energy and action-oriented with a history of getting things done in complex, fast-moving environments.
    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Experience with front-end technologies like React
    Looker Development & Design: coding LookML, setting up Explores, Reports and Dashboards.
    Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent technical knowledge and experience.
    Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
    Experience working on projects from feature definition to project deployment through the development lifecycle.
    Experience informing and assisting peers and other business stakeholders on various business initiatives.
    Knowledge of Git and it’s interaction with the Looker platform
