The Assistant Controller, under general direction from the Controller, oversees analysis, preparation, and reporting of company financial data. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in managing the firm’s daily accounting operations, including oversight of the general ledger and fixed asset accounting.
  • Oversee and participate in month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including preparation of journal entries and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules and ensure information is accurately recorded in associated records.
  • Assist with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Prepare and file various tax returns and reports, including CAT, sales tax, and use tax filings.
  • Utilize financial and reporting software to extract and analyze data for financial analysis, reporting, and presentations.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of accounting systems, ERP systems, and related financial processes.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Respond to and support various internal and external financial reporting requests.
  • Provide support across finance functions and perform other accounting duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of training and experience 
  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in accounting required, preferably in Professional Services environment    
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
