JOB SUMMARY

The Post Weld Grinder is responsible for grinding, smoothing, and finishing welded assemblies to meet quality, dimensional, and appearance standards. This role ensures welds are properly blended, free of defects, and ready for inspection, coating, or further processing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grind, smooth, and finish welds using hand grinders, pneumatic tools, and other finishing equipment
  • Remove weld spatter, slag, sharp edges, and surface imperfections
  • Blend welds to meet visual, dimensional, and customer specifications
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure quality standards are met
  • Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and weld symbols as required
  • Maintain consistent production flow to support welding and fabrication schedules
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and keep tools in safe working condition
  • Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards
  • Work closely with welders, inspectors, and supervisors to resolve quality issues

 

REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES

  • Previous experience grinding or finishing welded parts in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to safely operate grinders and related hand tools
  • Knowledge of basic weld types and fabrication processes
  • Ability to read measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Strong attention to detail and quality

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of industry experience is required.
  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
  • English speaking preferred, Spanish-bilingual is a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or bend.
  • Manually lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud when working in the plant, in which hearing protection is required.

COMPENSATION: $20 - $25
