POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Human Resources, Compliance and Organizational Development provides leadership and direction for human resources, compliance, organizational development and risk management functions. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP ensures that people practices, policies, and compliance frameworks align with the organization’s mission, values, and compliance obligations. The VP leads enterprise frameworks, monitoring, and escalation for HR and compliance matters, partnering with executive leadership to support timely decision-making and organizational accountability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee HR functions, including:
- Talent acquisition and retention
- Performance management and succession planning
- Compensation and benefits
- Employee relations and engagement
- Learning, leadership development, and training
- Ensure HR policies and practices promote employee well-being and align with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
- Foster a positive, professional, mission-driven workplace culture
- Lead the organization’s compliance program, by establishing oversight frameworks, monitoring, and escalation processes to support adherence to employment and labor laws, nonprofit regulatory requirements (including federal and state funding), ethical standards, and internal policies. Oversee compliance investigations and related reporting in partnership with executive leadership and legal counsel as appropriate; escalate findings and recommended corrective actions for review and decision-making. Partner with legal counsel, auditors, and regulators as needed, and advise the President & CEO on risk-based priorities and response strategy.
- Identify, assess, and escalate organizational risk trends; recommend mitigation strategies and strengthen controls in partnership with operational leaders. Co-chair the Employee Engagement, Compliance and Safety Committees
- Prepare quarterly reports on workforce metrics, compliance status, and risk trends for the President & CEO and senior leadership, and support Board reporting as requested.
- Lead and mentor the HR and compliance teams, and provide strategic oversight and operational support to the Solutions training business as service lines evolve, in alignment with organizational priorities. Promote cross-functional collaboration with finance, programs, and operations
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR and Compliance leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise in HR, compliance, organizational development and risk management
- Strong knowledge of employment law, nonprofit regulatory requirements, federal and state funding requirements, compliance and practice
- Proven ability to lead complex organizations through change with a positive, approachable leadership style
- Experience in the nonprofit, public, and mission-driven sector
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- HR and/or compliance certifications (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CCP)
