The Azure Core Compute host team is responsible for customer-facing compute offerings and management across virtual machines (VMs), containers, bare metal as well as exploring forward-looking host technologies including evolving the host OS, utilizing hardware offloads and leveraging disaggregation. As a mission-critical cloud platform, our goal is to ensure industry-leading availability, reliability, performance consistency at scale, compliance and security.
In the role of Software Engineer for Azure Compute Node Services group, you will help design, develop, and operate the compute platform that impacts millions of users and businesses worldwide. Responsibilities

Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.

Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight

With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.

Creates a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring quality of solutions, make informed decisions to implement the most effective tests.

Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.

Reviews current developments and proactively new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
-
Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline with proven
-
1+ year of system/app development experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Rust, C++, C, C#, Java
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with Hyper-V, VMWare, Docker or other virtualization technologies
-
Proven ability to create componentized and well-architected software.

Experience with improving service operations or engineering fundamentals.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
