2026 Leave Replacement Job Opening: Middle School French Teacher na St. Luke's School

IMMEDIATE OPENING: St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12 in New Canaan, Connecticut, seeks a French teacher to cover 4 Middle School French classes, beginning immediately and running through at least February 13, possibly longer.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Teach 5 Middle School French classes: French 6, French 7, French 7A, French 8, and French 8A ("A" indicates advanced).
• Plan lessons following the curriculum, maintain an open online grade book, and administer and grade assessments. 

Key Skills and Qualities:

• Strong background in French
• Inspiring, positive, flexible, collaborative teacher  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with children ages 11-14

Salary: 

$1500/week

Schedule: 

Each Middle School class meets 4x week, and each class meeting is 45 minutes long. St. Luke’s has a rotating two-week schedule so the schedule is different each day within the two-week period. Normal work hours during a leave replacement are Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm, though each day is different (for example, on Thursdays you would be finished by noon).
