Gracenote, the content data division of Nielsen, powers innovative entertainment experiences for leading media companies worldwide. Our advanced entertainment metadata and connected IDs enable seamless content navigation and discovery, helping consumers connect to the content they love and explore new favorites. With a global presence, Gracenote delivers both global and localized video, audio, automotive & sports content solutions across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Some of the biggest names who trust Gracenote are Jio, Amazon, NBC, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, Sony etc.  Our metadata entertainment solutions have a global footprint of 80+ countries, 100K+ channels and catalogs, 70+ sports and 100M+ music tracks, all across 35 languages. 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering manager to join ourinnovative team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems, particularly in the domains of media data processing, and metadata curation and serving. This role involves technical leadership, people management, execution and operational excellence, stakeholder management and collaboration across teams to deliver impactful solutions to media companies and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • They are responsible for building high-performing agile teams.
  • They set the direction for the team and support people in their career growth. They are responsible for talent segregation and succession planning.
  • Provide technical leadership to identify and define the right component/system abstractions/capabilities for current/future product/platform tasks
  • Drive strategy and vision in collaboration with Product.
  • Build scalable and reliable technology solutions at a rapid pace
  • Understand business goals and contribute to product strategy and take accountability for moving key business metrics.
  • They are also responsible for driving execution using Agile methodologies by removing impediments along the way with the big picture in mind.

 

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong expertise in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Java, Scala, Python.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing diverse data delivery solutions, including real-time streaming architectures, event-driven architectures, efficient batch processing systems, and robust API delivery mechanisms.
  • Ability to design highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems with a focus on NFR concepts like availability, recoverability, performance, and scalability.
  • Expertise in developing scalable RESTful APIs for high-performance metadata delivery.
  • Experience with big data frameworks like Apache Spark, Hive, or Flink for processing and transforming large-scale datasets. 
  • Proven experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases. Proficiency in caching mechanisms like Redis or Memcached, search engines such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and messaging systems like Kafka or SQS etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures for scalable deployment is required, along with experience in one of the major cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong Understanding of SDLC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in people management role
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles.
  • Experience in delivering end-to-end solutions, data processing and metadata curation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in using GenAI tools for code creation, video and voice data processing.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to analyze and extract insights from large-scale datasets
  • Understanding of security best practices for data protection and system integrity.
  • Experience of Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures and technologies like Delta Lake, Iceberg and data orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster.
