Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in daily cash reports, and general ledger balancing. This role also involves supporting bank deposits, maintaining cash receipts journals, and providing support during month-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will assist in reporting monthly sales and assist in tax reporting and collecting and computing financial data for submission to the corporate office. This position requires the ability to handle various financial tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Financial Management

  • Assist in reporting all cash activities on a daily and monthly basis, including producing weekly cash forecasts and monthly cash reconciliations.
  • Support accounting in preparing and submitting paperwork for monthly sales and using tax returns to various states. Maintain monthly in-depth spreadsheets for tax reporting and upload and audit state sales and use tax reports to Deloitte.
  • Assist in creating the Capital Asset Reporting (CAR) and fixed asset reporting. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of fixed assets within the general ledger.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.

 

Quality Control

  • Record journal entries into the database, ensuring all supporting documentation is attached.
  • Perform various month-end reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

 

Project Execution

  • Review Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) accounts for accuracy and work with intercompany entities to assist in balancing accounts.

 

Critical Thinking

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports as requested, applying proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.

 

Collaboration

  • Support payroll, project analysts, and other accountants in the Shared Services Division with applicable general ledger information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of related work experience required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage various financial tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe and Deltek Costpoint preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
