As part of Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering group, the databases team is in charge of building the next generation of database cloud services for our global customers. Our portfolio includes Azure SQL DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure MySQL, and Azure Cosmos DB. The Azure MySQL control plane manages thousands of machines in dozens of data centers around the world. We are looking for a Software Engineer II who can ship quickly, thrive in ambiguity, and write clean code under pressure. You will make pragmatic, high-impact decisions and own problems end-to-end. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping cloud services or software products in a production environment.
Job Requirements: Other & Additional
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Strong programming skills and deep knowledge of your programming language of choice and its standard library.

Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Clear and concise verbal and written communication.

Demonstrated track record of high-output, hands-on engineering with a bias for action and ownership of end-to-end technical decisions.

Familiarity with control plane design patterns, service orchestration, and scaling stateful services and distributed systems a plus.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
