The Purview team embraces the advancements in artificial intelligence, with groundbreaking research across deep learning, NLP, LLMs, RL, and graph-based approaches. Our mission is to stay ahead of emerging technological trends and seamlessly embed transformative AI capabilities into our product ecosystem. We are looking for a Principal Manager to lead the Product and Engineering charter for Purview Communication Compliance. In this role, you will define the vision and roadmap for AIdriven compliance capabilities, ensuring strong alignment between customer needs, regulatory requirements, and engineering execution. You will lead crossdisciplinary teams to architect, build, and operate scalable cloud services that deliver trustworthy and impactful compliance outcomes.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

  • This is a senior leadership role with accountability for business, customer, and engineering outcomes across a portfolio of initiatives.

  • You will operate as a strategy to execution leader, driving direction, technical decisions, and operating models that scale.

  • The role requires a General Manager mindset, owning outcomes beyond a single product or team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set portfolio level strategy and technical direction, aligning product vision, system architecture, and execution across multiple squads.

  • Own end to end outcomes, including customer adoption, reliability, cost efficiency, and trust, balancing short term delivery with long term platform investments.

  • Lead technical architecture and design decisions, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with regulatory and trust requirements.

  • Translate executive strategy into clear priorities, metrics, and operating mechanisms that teams can execute repeatedly at speed.

  • Build and scale high performing squads, hiring, coaching, and developing leaders while maintaining high talent density and strong ownership.

  • Run high velocity squad operations, removing friction, resolving cross team dependencies, and accelerating delivery without compromising quality.

  • Influence across senior leaders and functions, aligning stakeholders, unblocking decisions, and managing risk and trade offs.

  • Act as a force multiplier, improving how teams operate, make decisions, and deliver impact at scale.

  • Represent the product to senior Microsoft leadership, clearly communicating strategy, progress, risks, and impact through executive level updates and presentations.

Success in this role would mean customers see increased tangible value, business outcomes consistently improve at scale with an energized team—operating with clarity, ownership, and sustained execution strength.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 13+ years of experience leading largescale, cloud based product and engineering systems in global, enterprise environments.

  • Proven experience leading multiple teams or portfolios in highly matrixed organizations, including ownership of complex technical and organizational dependencies.

  • Strong ability to operate across strategy, architecture, and execution, with a deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, and platform tradeoffs.

  • Demonstrated strength in data and metrics driven leadership, with comfort owning and using metrics related to usage, reliability, performance, cost, and quality to drive decisions.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to communicate technical and business tradeoffs to executive audiences.

  • Deep understanding of product and engineering lifecycles, enterprise customer engagement, and operating cloud services at scale.

  • A track record of driving transformational change, not just incremental optimization.

Preferred / Differentiators

  • Experience designing or scaling platform architectures or operating models across multiple teams or organizations.

  • Evidence of sustained, company level or multiorganization impact, particularly in complex, regulated, or high trust domains.

  • Comfort making high risk, high leverage technical and business decisions with incomplete or evolving data.

  • Ability to simplify complex technical strategy, align large groups around clear outcomes, and drive execution through ambiguity.
