Oxyle is a multi-award winning Swiss based cleantech start-up founded in 2020. Our mission is to protect the health of our precious bodies of water by eliminating discharge of persistent and toxic micropollutants like PFAS, pesticides, hormones, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals at their source, using our efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable water treatment technology. Our game-changing solution completely degrades organic contaminants from wastewater without filtering, absorbing, or generating secondary waste and will revolutionize the wastewater treatment sector.

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Innovation R&D Intern to join our Innovation team. The ideal candidate is creative, research-driven, and well-experienced in conducting laboratory-scale experiments, analyzing results, and assessing potential solutions to technological risks and challenges related to PFAS treatment.

In this role, you will support our innovation team through literature reviews, lab experiments, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You will play an active part in developing novel solutions for water treatment and helping address our technological barriers.

Requirements

Your key responsibilites

  • Conduct laboratory-scale experiments under a variety of controlled conditions to validate and assess early-stage concepts and new treatment ideas.
  • Participate in the design and setup of experiments and related pretreatment and post-treatment processes required for new technology concepts.
  • Contribute creative ideas to address technical challenges and expand our technological capabilities.
  • Perform literature reviews to stay up to date on PFAS destruction methods and relevant pre- and post-treatment technologies.
  • Support on commercial research to inform and guide decision-making during the innovation stage.
  • Analyze experimental data and prepare clear reports and presentations for internal use.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient laboratory environment.

What you need to bring to the role

  • BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.
  • Ability to perform high-level research and literature reviews, analyze findings, and prepare clear outcomes.
  • Experience conducting R&D activities in chemistry laboratories in a structured and organized manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and systematic approach to work.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Prior exposure to wastewater treatment technologies is a plus.
  • Have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland.
