Job Description

Overview:

The Spray Supervisor oversees and coordinates daily pesticide application operations, ensuring full compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This position provides direct supervision to spray rig operators and field personnel, and is responsible for effective planning, scheduling, training, equipment oversight, and accurate recordkeeping related to pesticide applications. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient operations and adherence to established standards

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee Daily Operations:
  2. Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that all safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental protections are in place and followed.
    • Keep up-to-date with changing pesticide regulations, ensuring compliance.
    • Conduct safety briefings and risk assessments.
  3. Team Supervision:
    • Supervise and mentor field staff, offering training and guidance.
    • Address any performance or safety issues.
    • Ensure that all team members are well-informed about safety procedures and operational standards.
  4. Equipment Management:
    • Oversee maintenance and calibration of spray rigs and equipment.
    • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and ready for daily use.
    • Maintain an inventory of pesticides, chemicals, and safety equipment.
  5. Recordkeeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of pesticide applications, including product usage, application rates, and environmental conditions.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and submit reports related to pesticide applications, safety audits, and equipment inspections.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Pesticide Regulations: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing pesticide use.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and manage a team, resolve conflicts, and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of spray rig operations, equipment maintenance, and calibration.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to track schedules, recordkeeping, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, management, and regulatory bodies.
  • Safety Focus: A commitment to ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment.

Desired Certifications:

  • Qualified Applicator’s License (QAL) (optional, but beneficial)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (optional, but beneficial)

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ years supervisory experience in agricultural pesticide application or a related field.
  • Possession of a CDL and an acceptable driving record.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
