Role Summary:
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of health and safety. This role will lead initiatives to minimize risks, prevent incidents, and safeguard employees, contractors, and visitors.
Assist the Director – Engineering in preparing project related safety scopes and equipment requirements.
Participate in professional interaction with all employees in a manner that expands the awareness of the safety and training programs at Polygon and ensure follow-up at the district level on safety, certifications and training.
Support operation efforts in generating awareness of safety, equipment operation and provide information on key influences in the in the business including NetSuite/RFI/Equipment movement and other on-line project notification tools.
Adapt national training programs and literature to the peculiarities of Polygon and coordinate with the managers.
Champion the continuity of the cloud concept of fleet and business management.
Mentoring, coaching, guiding operations staff to greater success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Deliver safety training programs for employees and variable labor, ensuring understanding and compliance.
- Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Maintain and update emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
- Track and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety technologies.

- Office Safety Audits – bi-annually visit each office with support from the Unit Managers on off years and follow up.
- Hands on / Class room training – Ops & sales
- Catastrophe Operations – as needed
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, NEBOSH, or equivalent preferred; OSHA 30-hour certification required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in safety management or EHS roles, preferably in construction.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA standards, ANSI, EPA, and DOT regulations.
