Vast is looking for a Senior CAD Design Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Avionics Mechanical Engineering, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. Use this space to describe the role and sell the candidate on the cool stuff they would get to work on.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Define and manage interfaces between vehicle subsystems.
- Develop CAD design process improvement via simplification or automation.
- Define and optimize PCBA CAD integration
- Support source control, vendor control, and other electronics component process improvement
- Support development of CAD and PLM Processes for Avionics
- Creation and management of Vendor COTS components
- Check drawings and drive engineering drawing template
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 5+ years of relevant CAD/Design experience or equivalent.
- Experience with ASME specifications Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Aerospace or automotive design experience.
- Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Experience designing and managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings.
- Experience with Electronics, Altium to NX or equivalent PCBA development
- Demonstrated development and configuration management experience on technically complex hardware products.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering design, analysis, and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.1, 14.2, 14.3.
- Familiarity with IEEE IPC specification.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
Pay Range:
- Senior Design Engineer: $135,000 - $175,000
- Staff Design Engineer: $160,000 - $200,000
