The Fraud Investigations team is part of Wealthsimple’s Security & Risk CXO Group which falls under the Client Experience Operations team. Wealthsimple’s Security & Risk Group encompasses both investigations and operational aspects of fraud: prevention, detection, investigation and client experience. The team plays a crucial role in safeguarding our clients and maintaining trust in Wealthsimple’s services.
The Investigator will be responsible for evaluating incidents of suspected financial crime committed against Wealthsimple and its customers and make recommendations about future measures. The Investigator will proactively identify potential financial crime through in-depth analysis, and effectively respond to reported claims of financial crime.
*This is a 6 month fixed-term position
Skills we are looking for:
Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in cheque authentication, cheque verification, or cheque fraud investigation within a Canadian financial institution
Back office alert management experience, particularly with cheque-related fraud detection systems
Proven track record of working with Canadian banks, credit unions, or Other Financial Institutions (OFIs)
Knowledge of Payments Canada rules, regulations, and payment processing frameworks (strong asset)
Experience with signing authority responsibilities and cheque authorization processes
Established industry contacts and relationships within the Canadian banking sector
Strong analytical skills with ability to detect patterns and anomalies in cheque transactions
Excellent communication skills for liaising with external financial institutions and internal stakeholders
High attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Resourceful, persistent, and able to thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment
