The Senior Director, Engineering is accountable for the engineering execution and technical outcomes that enables Coates’ North American product and client roadmaps. This includes leading multiple engineering teams to implement software and content solutions that are scalable, minimize technical overhead/debt, and increase operational efficiency — while defining and embedding the “Coates Way” of engineering excellence. This role will partner closely with stakeholders in Product, Account Management, and Business development to ensure we are building solutions in manner deliver a high level of client value in a cost effective and sustainable manner.
Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership: Drive consistent, high-quality engineering execution of the NAM product roadmap in partnership with Product and Delivery teams.
Technical Governance: Define and uphold engineering standards, coding best practices, and architecture principles.
Technical Debt Management: Identify, prioritize, and mitigate technical debt through proactive refactoring and modernization plans.
Engineering Efficiency: Improve productivity through process optimization, automation, and effective code management practices.
People & Culture: Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team that embodies Coates’ values.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Product, Content, Support, and Delivery teams to ensure end-to-end solution success.
Risk & Quality Management: Ensure engineering risks are identified early and delivery quality meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Qualifications
Required:
10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in technical leadership
Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale software or content service platforms.
Strong background both cloud-native (AWS preferred) and distributed system (Linux preferred) architectures
Deep understanding of software delivery methodologies (Agile, Lean, etc).
Experience establishing engineering frameworks, standards, and practices across distributed teams.
Demonstrated success managing engineering teams supporting SaaS or digital experience platforms.
Proven track record of launching successful products and/or service offerings.
Preferred:
Bachelors Degrees in Engineering, Computer science or related fields
Experience in leveraging engineering partners in both staff augmentation and managed service capacity.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic plans that align with business objectives and growth
