Essential Functions:
- Direct daily interactions with the Assistant Director of Fleet Maintenance and Shop Managers, promoting safety and service excellence.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures and resolve customer complaints.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment utilization.
- Analyze equipment data to anticipate needs and recommend replacements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for maintenance and inventory.
- Ensure timely project scheduling and accurate reporting by Shop Managers.
- Mentor staff and maintain a positive work environment.
- Participate in the hiring process to select the best talent.
- Provide coaching and conduct performance assessments for direct reports.
- Stay current with industry knowledge and maintain confidentiality.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of fleet management experience, with a high school diploma and technical training in a related field.
- Experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
- Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and safety policies.
- Strong project management skills and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning additional software.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Valid driver's license; Class A or B CDL preferred.
- Must be available 24/7 for emergency calls.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work under stress and in inclement weather.
- Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
- On-call availability for emergency situations.
