- Title: Director of Category Management – Indirect Spend
- Location: King of Prussia, PA (Hybrid: 3 days in-office or remote)
- Reports To: Vice President of Procurement
- Department: Finance
- Travel: Up to 10% (OpCo site visits, supplier QBRs, industry conferences)
- This foundational hire will design and lead Sila’s Indirect Spend Sourcing & Category Management team. This position will own a growing portfolio of $100M+ in annual indirect spend across categories such as IT hardware/software, telecommunications, professional services, facilities/MRO, marketing, fleet/vehicles, uniforms/PPE, travel, and corporate insurance. This role will support the build of a centralized procurement team, systems, and supplier partnerships that drive cost leadership, compliance, and operational efficiency across 40+ decentralized operating companies.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing category management organization across the Indirect Categories
- Lead the development and execution of a Category Management strategy aligned to corporate cost savings goals, risk mitigation, and operational requirements for all current and future OpCo’s.
- Partner with business unit leaders and functional executives (IT, HR, Operations, Marketing, Facilities, Finance) to understand demand, align sourcing strategies, and maximize total value.
- Develop and execute category plans that drive value, reduce risk, improve supplier performance, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead major RFPs, contract negotiations, and supplier selection in collaboration with business stakeholders, legal, and compliance teams.
- Conduct comprehensive market and spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, consolidate suppliers, and leverage national scale.
- Monitor supplier performance, including cost, service levels, quality, contract compliance, and develop supplier improvement initiatives.
- Drive adoption of preferred supplier programs and catalog management to control maverick spend and ensure policy compliance.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Finance to optimize payment terms, rebates, and working capital impact.
- Leverage procurement technology (e.g., Coupa) to enhance visibility, automate workflows, enforce policy, and enable data-driven decisions.
- Track and report on sourcing savings, pipeline, category performance, and compliance metrics to executive leadership.
- Continuously evaluate and improve category management tools, processes, scorecards, and metrics.
- Additional ad-hoc responsibilities will be needed as the program grows and matures; list above is not exhaustive.
- Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- 8+ years Category Management experience in indirect procurement
- Proven track record leading category strategies and sourcing across multiple indirect spend categories (IT, professional services, facilities, marketing, fleet, etc.)
- Hands-on experience selecting and implementing S2P systems (Coupa, Ariba, etc.)
- Preferred
- Masters in Business Administration
- CPSM, CPM, or equivalent certification
- Prior role at a multi-location service organization, or consulting firm with indirect procurement focus.
