We are seeking a reliable and meticulous Low Voltage Cabling Technician to handle all physical layer network installations, clean-up, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be an expert in copper cabling standards, take pride in high-quality workmanship, and possess the ability to work independently on client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • New Installations
    • Execute end-to-end installation of new structured copper cabling (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) following EIA/TIA standards and local code requirements.
  • Infrastructure Management
    • Perform detailed cleanup, standardization, and labeling of existing patch panels, server racks, and network closets (IDF/MDF) to improve organization and manageability.
  • Troubleshooting & QA
    • Utilize advanced testing equipment (cable certifiers, VFL, OTDR, toners) to quickly diagnose and repair physical layer network issues. Certify new runs to client and company quality standards.
  • Hardware Placement
    • Plan, mount, and install network hardware (switches, WAPs, VoIP equipment) in accordance with cabling paths and power requirements.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, including cable schematics, labeling guides, and before-and-after photos for all projects using our internal knowledge base.

 Highly Desired Skills (Major Plus)

  • Fiber Optic Experience: Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, termination (fusion splicing or mechanical connectors), and testing (OTDR/Power Meter).
  • Current technical certifications (e.g., BICSI Installer 1 or 2, specific manufacturer training).
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting surveillance (CCTV) and access control cabling

Requirements

  • 2+ Years of professional experience in low voltage structured cabling installation, termination, and testing.
  • Deep practical knowledge of (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) installation and best practices.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools, including cable certification testers, punch-down tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction drawings, blueprints, and project scopes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces (closets, above ceilings).
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and reliable transportation are mandatory.
