Maintenance Technician – Full Time (32 Hours/Week)

Bay Vista Commons, a Martha & Mary community, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in ensuring our campus remains safe, functional, and welcoming for the residents and families we serve. About the Role

The Maintenance Technician performs general repairs, preventative maintenance, and grounds upkeep across the campus to ensure the physical environment meets all local, state, and federal standards. This role directly supports our mission of bridging generations, enriching lives by creating clean, safe, and comfortable spaces for residents, visitors, children, and staff.

You will work both independently and collaboratively, providing exceptional customer service and offering respectful, supportive interactions with the residents who call Bay Vista Commons home.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine and emergency repairs in resident apartments and common areas.
  • Complete carpentry projects such as building benches, flower boxes, and other small structures.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs: unclog toilets, replace pipes, repair water lines, maintain hair traps, etc.
  • Perform electrical tasks including replacing outlets, light fixtures, wiring repairs, and panel work.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC equipment, motors, sensors, boilers, and related systems.
  • Remove or relocate furniture, assist with room moves, and complete interior/exterior painting.
  • Install/inspect smoke alarm batteries, replace bulbs, maintain fire extinguishers, and support fire drills.
  • Replace windows, maintain grounds (mowing, trimming, weeding), and keep exterior areas clean.

 Campus Support

  • Provide maintenance support for multiple buildings on campus as needed.
  • Assist with construction or facility additions.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond appropriately during emergency situations.

 What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in two or more of the following: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, HVAC, or painting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

 Skills & Abilities

  • Foundational knowledge of HVAC, fire systems, boilers, and building mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently, reliably, and with good judgment.
  • Strong communication and customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and staff.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation, including nights/weekends/holidays.
  • Comfortable operating power tools, vehicles, and occasionally heavy equipment.
