About Skyscanner
Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges ✈️. That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily 💻.
Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all 🌍.
Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? 💪 Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here)
About the role
Hybrid
We’re on the lookout for an Engineering Manager to lead our Wally squad — the team behind the Landing Pages Platform that powers Skyscanner’s global web presence. This is where marketing sparkle meets engineering muscle. You’ll steer the squad that enables content to go live safely, swiftly, and without any late-night “why is the build red?” drama — all while scaling systems that serve millions of travellers.
If solving complex distributed systems, levelling up engineers, and building platforms that make other teams’ lives immeasurably better sounds like your idea of a good time, then you might just be Wally’s next navigator.
What you’ll be doing
Leading a high-impact platform team: You’ll guide the squad that designs, builds and operates Skyscanner’s Landing Pages Platform.
Setting direction: You’ll craft clear, traveller-centred outcomes that align tech, marketing and product.
Partnering cross-functionally: You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and help them create higher-quality experiences, faster.
Building for scale: You’ll evolve reliable, resilient systems that keep performance sharp and uptime shiny, even under heavy traffic.
Championing engineering excellence: You’ll push standards across automation, testing, observability and incident readiness.
Growing great engineers: You’ll mentor, coach and support engineers through thoughtful feedback, development and empowerment.
Balancing short and long term: You’ll deliver immediate value without losing sight of security, compliance or cost-efficient architecture.
About you
Experienced leader: You’ve hired, coached and nurtured high-performing engineering teams.
System-savvy: You bring strong foundations in distributed systems, reliability and scalable platform architecture.
CMS-curious: You know your way around content platforms — bonus points for Contentful or publishing workflows.
API & events fluent: You’re comfortable with cloud infrastructure and event-driven designs.
Developer-focused: You care deeply about great tooling, documentation and overall developer experience.
Delivery-driven: You’ve navigated ambiguity, driven complex projects and kept teams focused through change.
Collaborative by design: You build trusted relationships across engineering, product and marketing — and bring people with you.
