About The Role
As VP – Legal for North Europe, you’ll take overall responsibility for the legal function across the cluster—guiding a high-performing team and partnering with senior leaders to deliver commercially focused, risk-aware advice. The Europe region is organised into four geographical clusters - North Europe encompasses the UK & Ireland, the Nordic and Baltic countries. It includes some of the most valuable and important assets in the Europe region and is also a rapidly growing part of the business.
From ports and terminals (London Gateway and Southampton) to contract logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding and technology, you’ll provide strategic legal support across all business verticals, ensuring compliance, consistency, and value creation. You’ll also manage external counsel relationships and align closely with C-suite stakeholders on key legal risks and mitigation strategies. This role reports into the Cluster EVP (CEO) with a dotted line into the regional General Counsel.
NOTE: this is a hybrid role based out of Regional Head Office in Victoria London.
How You Will Contribute
- Be the trusted legal advisor to cluster leadership and senior managers, delivering clear, practical guidance across complex legal matters.
- Lead the cluster’s legal function—shaping policies, ensuring compliance, and driving consistency across contracts, processes, and governance.
- Advise on high-value transactions, commercial agreements, real estate, procurement, employment, construction litigation and regulatory issues, managing matters from start to finish.
- Support new business ventures and integrations
- Champion legal tech solutions to streamline contract management and operational efficiency.
- Develop and mentor the cluster legal team, fostering expertise, efficiency, and succession planning.
- Work closely with CoSec and Compliance including on key programs (anti-bribery, anti-trust, sanctions, data privacy).
- Act as the legal lead for the North Cluster, deputizing for General Counsel – Europe when needed.
- Contribute to the wider success of the European regional legal team through membership of the European legal leadership group and working on pan-European initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with the wider regional (and global) legal team and with external counsel—selecting, instructing, and managing spend effectively.
- Represent DP World with integrity, promoting our values and ensuring the highest standards of ethics and safety.
What You Will Bring
- A Law Degree from an accredited university and qualification to practice law from a recognised legal regulatory body.
- 10+ years post-qualification experience in an internationally recognised law firm and/or multinational company.
- Proven expertise in corporate and/or commercial transactions, infrastructure and real estate contracts and operational/regulatory/litigious legal matters, with experience managing transactions through to completion.
- Ideally, knowledge of logistics, transport and supply chain projects and familiarity with construction and procurement law.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to understand diverse business needs, including sensitivity to international legal and cultural practices and flexibility to work across different cultural environments.
- Senior leadership experience with significant interaction at C-suite level and ideally experience of managing a team.
- Exceptional analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to negotiate complex legal issues and transaction documentation effectively with counterparties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships across the business.
