THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a residential role based full-time at Kogan Creek Power Station, Australia’s largest supercritical coal-fired unit, playing a vital role in maintaining energy stability across the NEM well into 2040.

As a key member of the Unit Plant Engineering team, you will support the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor and Kogan Creek site by delivering professional engineering services, guidance, and support to ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of power generation assets.
Key accountabilities include (but not limited to):
- Identifies and mitigates key plant risks, meeting both acceptable standards, and business objectives.
- Identifies and understands process safety risks and processes and prioritises engineering works with this in mind.
- Develops, maintains and governs appropriate maintenance and capital strategies for allocated asset areas.
- Identifies and implements measures and metrics to monitor, sustain or improve plant area performance, safety, production and reliability.
- Assists in asset governance functions to ensure the consistent application of maintenance standards and processes, checking quality and integrity of works.
- Analysing and rectifying root cause of failures and incidents of high priority and critical items.
- Contributing to success of outage and project works, including delivery, governance, scopes, standards, advice and technical direction as required.
- Develops and implements projects as required, in line with asset strategy that sustain or improve assets in a commercial way.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will have the following education, skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 years experience as an Engineer with heavy industry plant.
- RPEQ certification (desirable) or ability to acquire within 6 months of placement.
- A solid understanding of Asset Management principles and their application including equipment strategy, business risk management, RCA investigations and management of change processes.
- Strong integrity engineering skills in order to manage the plant to be safe and reliable.
- Background in coal fired power plant asset management will be highly regarded.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer, with a strong background in critical rotating equipment operations and maintenance.
To be successful in this onsite Engineer position, you will be a focused team player who can communicate at all levels in the business, have a heightened personal and process safety focus, and be willing to work cohesively with others to achieve team and organisational outcomes.
