About the Department
Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Greenacres. You must be able to meet the minimum following requirements:
- Must have graduated from an accredited high school, or have obtained a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Must submit to a post-offer physical examination. The offer of employment will be contingent on the results of testing and/or examinations.

Position Duties
Position Summary: Provide customer service to address and resolve citizen requests and concerns in a broad range of zoning, land development code, and architectural review.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Reviews building permits for compliance with applicable zoning codes and land use regulations and records all notes, corrections, and denials/approvals in software tracing system
- Reviews all sign and landscape permits for compliance with zoning ordinance and land development regulations
- Provides technical assistance and information to staff and the public to zoning of lands, allowable uses, development standards, to explain applications needed to obtain zoning approval or similar matters
- Conducts required inspections for building or zoning permit applications.
- Receives, researches, and responds to public inquiries regarding related department functions and procedures.
- Provides counter assistance for citizens, developers, and contractors, in explaining and coordinating the development review process and building permit zoning review.
- Works with and supports the Business Tax Receipt Coordinator with business license inquiries and applications at the counter
- Performs routine office tasks in designated areas, including data entry, filing management, copying, answering phones, and responding to emails. OR
- Answers the telephone, provides accurate information and/or routes calls to appropriate staff person. Greets office visitors and provides effective customer service as required.
- Research and compiles information on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Operations, services, and activities of development and neighborhood services department.
- Local zoning practices and construction processes.
- Methods of gathering and complying data.
- Customer services practices.
- Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers, supporting word processing, spreadsheet applications and planning or building software programs.
Ability to:
- Conduct field inspections and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
- Read and interpret various technical matters of municipal ordinances, blueprints, survey, site plans and other forms or project/permit documentation.
- Analyze facts and exercise sound judgement in arriving at conclusions.
- Work independently or in a team setting as needed.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments.
- Identify issues, generate and evaluate alternate solutions and make sound recommendations.
- Complete assignments accurately and on a timely basis.
- Prepare and maintain clear, concise and accurate records and reports.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public agencies, vendors and the general public.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Other Qualifications
- High School Diploma/G.E.D with one (1) year of relevant experience in a general business setting preferably permit review or code interpretation or local or state land use zoning as a Zoning Technician, Urban Planning environment or similar field or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in in urban and regional planning, landscape architect, or related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
