Requirements

The Grain Originator plays a critical role in building strong relationships with grain producers while promoting CFE’s grain programs and risk management solutions. This position focuses on helping producers develop marketing strategies, driving grain origination, and ensuring compliance with company policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build Relationships: Conduct weekly farm visits to strengthen partnerships and identify new opportunities.
  • Develop Risk Management Plans: Assist producers in creating strategies to manage market volatility.
  • Collaborate on Marketing: Work with the grain team to design marketing activities and promotional plans.
  • Strategic Account Management: Implement account strategies aligned with CFE’s objectives.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Help organize transportation and delivery schedules for off-farm pickups.
  • Customer Engagement: Deliver exceptional service and lead multiple producer meetings.
  • Credit Policy Compliance: Enforce cooperative credit policies and clearly communicate terms to customers.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Follow all cooperative, OSHA, state, and federal regulations.

Merchandising Responsibilities

  • Partner with grain merchandising staff to achieve origination and marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with location personnel to maximize grain volumes while meeting financial objectives.
  • Identify and leverage arbitration opportunities within CFE’s trade territory.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in grain procurement or risk management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Agriculture, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with grain marketing software and hedging strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly use hands to handle objects and communicate verbally.
  • Frequently walk and reach with arms; occasionally stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 90 pounds occasionally.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
