Position Information
Posted Range: $51,140-$71,230
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. At American Water, we are committed to pay equity.

Key Accountabilities
· Reading water meters, discontinuing and restoring water service to customers’ premises, removal of and resetting of meters, perform J.U.L.I.E. locates.
· Installation and/or maintenance of water mains, valves, services, meter settings, fire hydrants, and any other duties assigned by foreperson or management.
· Follow all safety rules and safe operating procedures established by the company; keep accurate time and material records for performance purposes.
· Position requires being on call on weekly rotation schedule.
Knowledge/Skills
· Strong work ethic, verbal/written communication, time management, safety consciousness, mathematical, map reading, as well as organizational and team membership skills.
· Mechanical aptitude, including the ability/knowledge to start up, operate, shut down, and make operating adjustments to all equipment as well as be capable of using hand tools and learning water utility terms.
· Must be able to speak clearly and be understood and understand others over a cell phone.
· Must be courteous with internal and external contacts.
· Must be available for after-hours work and other emergencies.
· A valid Illinois non CDL Class C Driver license required with a clean MVR and shall obtain certification(s) as required by the company.
· A Class C Water license preferred, or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire date.
· Computer and iPad use a plus.
· Experience/Education 0-2 years in water industry.
· High school degree (or equivalent) required.

- This position requires outdoor work.
- This role will require over time and call outs as necessary.
