The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Fire Marshal in the City of Minot Fire Department with an application deadline of Monday, December 1st, 2025. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.
Nature of Work
This position is responsible for fire prevention work performed under the general direction of the Fire Chief. The employee is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion in the performance of job duties. Please see attached job description for complete details.
Education, Experience, Other Requirements
- Four years of experience as a Fire Inspector II and successful completion of training prescribed by the Minot Fire Department, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Requires certification as Fire Marshal through International Fire Code Council.
- Certification as an International Association of Arson Investigator (IAAI) Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) within 3 years of appointment.
- Possession of a valid North Dakota driver's license within 90 days of appointment.
Compensation and Benefits
- The assigned salary range for the position of Fire Marshal under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is a Grade 66, which is $64,713- $96,067 annually.
- This is a full time, Exempt position not eligible for overtime.
