Description
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Collection Development, the Librarian - Selector - Children's Specialist serves as the expert in Chidlren's materials for Brodart's customers. This position provides support for the sales and marketing of these materials and services as well as performance of a variety of title level activities.
- Identify appropriate titles to be entered into the title database based on US library requirements and place those titles into the proper Brodart programs.
- Monitor data relating to Children's metadata such as age range, subjects and descriptors.
- Select titles for Brodart lists and programs, for custom selection lists and/or perform vendor selection for specific customers and projects.
- Collaborate with Collection Development, Sales and Marketing to drive sales growth to include direct sales, travel to customer sites and conferences.
- Perform activities that would enhance and build Brodart's reputation as the premier source for Children's materials.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Library Science, ALA-accredited preferred, with at least five years of Children's selection experience in libraries.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable about Children's material publishing, publishers, authors, artists, and subject trends.
- Understands the selection patterns of US public libraries.
- Able to represent the company well in any business setting, including making presentations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications, Internet and book databases.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time and prioritize tasks.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams as required.
- Remote office environment; close and distant vision, using hands and fingers to handle and feel, talk and hear, sitting.
