Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Research Accountant - Boca Raton, FL.

The Research Accountant is responsible for managing fiscal and accounting functions, formulating and recommending policies and procedures, and maintaining general account ledgers for a variety of Awards (grants) within the Division of Research.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs post-award administration duties based upon assigned awards (grants) by sponsor.

  • Reviews all expenditure requests to be charged to Awards (grants).

  • Prepares financial reports and invoices required by the sponsor. Prepares and submits accurately and on a timely basis along with any required supporting documentation.

  • Monitors outstanding receivables, reconciling items, overspent budgets. Identifies corrections needed or adjustments for indirect costs.

  • Verifies accounts receivable and uses the standard collection procedures to follow up on collecting any outstanding invoices.

  • Makes recommendations on Award (grant) resolution and referrals to legal counsel as appropriate.

  • Follows up on Awards (grants) with discrepancies and unresolved issues by working with the appropriate personnel and using professional experience and judgment to problem solve. Takes action as necessary to reconcile outstanding items.

  • Follows standard Award (grant) closeout procedures for processing for expired awards (grants).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience required.

Salary:

$65,000 - $70,000 per year.
