Job Description

Student Success Coach

Under the supervision of the Student Success Manager, the Student Success Coach ensures the effective and efficient operation of Student Success Center programs. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising student employees (peer educators, mentors, and supervisors); collaborating with CE product managers and instructors; assisting with program assessment; and serving as a departmental liaison. The coach supports students in CE academic programs by promoting academic progress and course completion through coaching, goal setting, time management, and encouraging help-seeking behavior. The coach may also teach high school and university success courses and conduct workshops or seminars as needed.

What you’ll do is this position:

Student Success Center Operations

  • Oversee daily center operations and ensure efficiency.
  • Collect, analyze, and report usage, training, and satisfaction data.
  • Prepare and distribute reports to stakeholders.
  • Recommend and enforce center policies and protocols.
  • Manage center communication channels and calendars.

Peer Educator and Mentor Program Supervision

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student employees in compliance with university policies.
  • Conduct evaluations, manage discipline, and recommend raises.
  • Develop and implement training content and track certification requirements.
  • Schedule and mentor student employees, ensuring quality and service coverage.
  • Stay current on best practices in academic coaching and student success.

Academic Coaching and Teaching

  • Teach credit-bearing student success courses for high school and college students.
  • Identify and support at-risk students through proactive outreach and intervention.
  • Provide academic coaching sessions, individually and in groups, to promote goal setting and progress.
  • Maintain records of coaching sessions, goals, and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate academic success programs that foster student achievement and retention.
  • Collaborate with instructors, success staff, and administrators to support student outcomes.

Interdepartmental Relations

  • Serve as liaison with assigned CE entities and instructional design staff.
  • Develop course learning materials and ensure timely feedback to stakeholders.
  • Participate in committees, division responsibilities, and represent the manager as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Student Success Manager.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of supervisory experience; prior experience teaching, tutoring, or conducting workplace training required, or the equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Current secondary teaching certificate and/or coaching credential or be willing to gain credentials within a year of hire.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree and at least three years of supervisory experience, with previous experience in K-12 or higher education, teaching/tutoring or workforce training preferred. Prior experience in peer coaching/mentoring is highly desirable.
  • Experience with multi-cultural, first-generation, or other at-risk student groups.

Pay Grade: 51

Typical Starting Pay: $59,000 - $75,500
