As a member of the Communications Department, the Social Media & Graphic Design Coordinator will support the District’s efforts to tell amazing stories, engage the community, and highlight the work happening across our schools. This position works closely with Chief Communications Officer and Senior Multimedia Specialist to develop creative content, coordinate social media messaging, and produce visually compelling designs that align with the District’s brand. The Coordinator will play an important role in capturing the voices, achievements, and experiences of students and staff, helping to ensure consistent, accurate, and engaging communication across all platforms.
PURPOSE
The Social Media and Graphic Design Coordinator assists in developing, posting, and monitoring social media content across District platforms, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging communication with students, families, staff, and the community. This position supports the planning and execution of communication campaigns, contributes to content strategy, and produces visually compelling graphic design materials that reflect the District’s brand and messaging.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Social Media and Graphic Design Coordinator works under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer. Work is reviewed for quality, accuracy, creativity, and alignment with communication priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in planning, creating, scheduling, and posting content across all District social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement, comments, and messages on social media accounts; elevate concerns or inquiries to the appropriate staff.
- Contribute to the development of social media campaigns that support District initiatives, programs, and events.
- Create visually engaging digital and print graphics, including flyers, social media graphics, brochures, and promotional materials, aligned with District branding guidelines.
- Capture photos and videos at District events, schools, and activities to support storytelling and content creation.
- Assist with maintaining the District’s brand identity by ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and visual design.
- Review analytics and prepare basic reports on social media performance and trends.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures and safety practices.
- Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Principles and best practices of social media communication and digital engagement.
- Graphic design concepts and current design trends.
- Basic photography and videography techniques.
- Brand management and visual identity guidelines.
- Standard office software and digital communication tools.
- Graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, or similar design programs.
- Effective writing and editing practices for online communication.
- Customer service and public communications etiquette.
- Microsoft Office Suite, document routing systems, and electronic signature platforms.
- Operation of a personal computer and job-related software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database creation and maintenance, information storage and retrieval, and related tasks.
- English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Current office practices and procedures.
Ability to:
- Create engaging, original content tailored to various digital platforms.
- Design graphics with creativity, clarity, and attention to detail.
- Adapt writing and visual style to match District branding and messaging.
- Monitor social media activity and respond appropriately within guidelines.
- Capture and edit photos or short video clips for communication purposes.
- Analyze basic social media data and report findings clearly.
- Work collaboratively with staff, school sites, and community partners.
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when engaging with the public online.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability in all work products.
- Operate and use modern office equipment, including computers and appropriate software.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, digital media, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in social media content creation, digital communication, and/or graphic design.
