Job Description:
The Technical Project Engineer - Embedded Systems plays a pivotal role in delivering complex automation and control system solutions across Epiroc’s global technology programs.
This is a hands-on engineering coordination role that bridges embedded development, system integration, and validation - ensuring technical excellence, quality, and on-time delivery of embedded solutions for mining and construction equipment.
Mission of the Role
To plan, coordinate, and deliver embedded system solutions that meet functional, safety, and performance requirements - ensuring alignment between software, hardware, and validation teams to accelerate time-to-market and achieve engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the technical execution of embedded system projects from design through integration and validation.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to translate requirements into actionable engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate development across embedded software, control systems, and hardware integration.
- Review and validate design documentation, interface specifications, and verification procedures.
- Oversee integration testing, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and fault analysis.
- Track engineering milestones, dependencies, and risks, ensuring smooth progress across teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in processes, tools, and development methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with Epiroc’s safety, quality, and documentation standards.
- Provide technical insights and mentorship to junior engineers where applicable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in embedded systems development, integration, and testing, ideally within automotive, off-highway, or industrial automation domains.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, & coordination skills for successful project delivery.
- Strong foundation in
- C / C++ programming for Embedded systems
- CAN, J1939, Ethernet Communication Protocols
- Microcontrollers, RTOS, and Control Systems Integration
- Diagnostics, Fault handling, and Functional Safety Principles
- Experience with project or feature-based Agile development practices.
- Experience with configuration management tools and structured engineering processes
Nice to Have:

- Experience with remote-controlled applications or autonomous machinery used in heavy equipment or off-highway vehicles.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing setups.
- Exposure to system engineering processes (Requirements Management, System Verification, and Validation).
- Prior experience collaborating with global cross-functional R&D teams or on international assignments.
- Certification such as PMP or PMI-ACP or Certified Scrum Master will be an advantage.
