About Statista Healthcare
Statista Healthcare is a vertical business unit of Statista, focused on making healthcare quality transparent, measurable, and comparable across countries, care settings, and specialties. We work with leading healthcare stakeholders worldwide to support data-driven quality measurement and transformation by combining in-depth analytical expertise with scalable technology and communication power.
Our offerings span international rankings, ratings, benchmarking studies, and customized consulting projects. Our global healthcare rankings and hospital ratings are published in collaboration with our trusted media partner Newsweek, enabling high visibility and credibility across markets.
We help healthcare organizations define relevant key performance indicators, validate and harmonize data structures, and translate insights into actionable strategies. At the heart of our approach is a data driven understanding of healthcare quality, grounded in robust methodologies, global comparability, and stakeholder trust.
In our consulting projects, we support healthcare providers and systems in developing tailored KPI frameworks, standardizing and validating data processes, and deriving actionable insights that enable measurable improvements in patient care and system-level performance. We combine structured methodologies with hands-on delivery to unlock the full value of healthcare quality data.
Your Role
As an Analytics Engineer on our Healthcare Platform, you’ll turn diverse healthcare data into trusted, well-modeled datasets and a clear semantic layer for analysis and products. You’ll design, implement, and maintain scalable data models and architectures, define metrics and documentation, and ensure data is reliable, governed, and easy to use. You’ll work closely with data engineers (ingestion/platform), data scientists, and the analyst team to deliver consistently defined, high-quality data that powers the platform and its outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and evolve the data architecture in the warehouse (e.g. Snowflake), including enterprise- and domain-level models that support rankings, ratings, benchmarking, and platform use cases
Design and maintain scalable, well-documented data models that feed healthcare and business reporting, with clearly defined metrics/semantics and versioned documentation
Communicate complex technical concepts accessibly to align stakeholders (analysts, data scientists, Product Owner) and build consensus on definitions and quality standards
Collaborate with analytics, data platform (Data Engineering), and business/analyst teams to ensure seamless data flow, interoperability, and data contracts between ingestion and models
Lead structured documentation of data models (YAML/dbt docs or equivalent) and Confluence, maintaining transparency, lineage notes, and change history
Skills and Qualifications
Deep knowledge of data modeling approaches (e.g., star schema, data vault, medallion, data marts, 3NF) and the ability to translate business problems into maintainable technical designs
Hands-on experience with dbt, Snowflake, AWS, PowerBI, SQL, and Python
Strong grasp of relational database concepts and performance tuning (keys/constraints, indexing, query plans, transactions & isolation) across modern cloud warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and traditional RDBMS
Data quality, observability, and documentation for modeled layers (tests, data contracts, schema governance, lineage, dbt/YAML docs) to ensure trusted, auditable datasets and well-defined metrics
Healthcare-aware governance – as a plus: practical experience with PII/PHI handling, access control, and GDPR-aware practices
Your Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience designing and delivering complex data architectures and models; including a sustained period within one organization seeing a product through build → launch → iteration
Healthcare domain experience is a plus (e.g., understanding of KPIs, quality / benchmarking concepts, cross-country harmonization)
Strong analytical mindset and ability to transform complex data into actionable insights
Fluent in English, German a plus
Highly structured, curious, and motivated to work in an international and cross-functional environment
