Group and individual identities as related to how food is selected, prepared and consumed. Introduction to sociological concepts and research in food studies. Connection of food and eating practices with broader social practices in the spheres of culture, taste, politics, economics, social distinction, and the environment. Significance of recent large-scale social trends in the globalisation, distribution, production and marketing of food and their impact on everyday eating practices.

Requirements:

M.A. in sociology or a more advanced training in sociology. Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field Sociology of Food and Eating in the form of previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
