Your impact
Reporting to the Director, Australia Tax Compliance in the position of Specialist, Tax Compliance & Reporting you will take responsibility for Newmont Australia’s tax filings. This includes income tax return preparation, calculating monthly income tax instalment payments and managing the tax provision and indirect tax calculations. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate filings, monitoring changes in relevant to tax legislation and formulating and executing technology-enabled processes. This role currently has two direct reports.
As part of our team you will also
• Coordinate preparation of Australian income tax return and associated schedules and ensure accurate and complete
• Review tax fixed asset register on a monthly basis to ensure tax positions are optimised
• Ensure SOX compliant workpapers are prepared and maintained
• Coordinate monthly income tax instalment process
• Formulate technology-enabled processes for tax operations
• Monitor changes in accounting policies and tax laws and determine impact on tax compliance
• Prepare monthly and quarterly tax effect calculations
• Create monthly tax performance and quarterly tax reporting
• Prepare monthly and annual indirect tax returns
• Provide indirect tax advice to broader business with respect to external contracts
• Provide Australian financial statement tax disclosures
• Deliver Quarterly Tax summaries to Newmont Australia leaders and directors
Prerequisites for your success in the role
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related with post-graduate qualification preferred
• Current Certified Practising Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor Australia accreditation
• Expert knowledge of Australian federal and state tax laws and practices
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Significant tax accounting professional services experience in a global Australia operating entity
• Advanced skills in MS Office – i.e. Excel pivot tables, VLOOKUP
• Proficient skills in tax compliance software – i.e. CCH Integrator and AI tools – i.e. Alteryx
Your work environment
This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement out of Newmont’s Perth capital city office hub in Subiaco and suit applicants currently living in Perth. Residents of another Australian capital city will be considered for the ideal candidate. Full eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.
