Under general supervision, inspects grounds maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with City of Arlington specifications and standards.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to inspect workmanship and grounds maintenance contracts of Parks and Recreation's infrastructure such as buildings, landscape, facilities, and other Parks and Recreation property to ensure compliance with City of Arlington specifications, issuing punch-list items that need to be corrected.
2. Ability to monitor and establish traffic control plans according to City of Arlington Traffic Control manual and TMUTCD.
3. Ability to maintain detailed project records, contract expenditures, documentation via digital photographs and videos.
4. Ability to communicate with citizens, contractors and supervisors to avoid and resolve conflict.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to plan, direct, monitor and provide management oversight for Water Treatment, Laboratory Services, and Water Resource Services activities. Provides management of personnel including hiring, performance evaluations, discipline, rulemaking, safety assurance, and other duties supporting a team environment.
2. Ability to plan, direct and monitor preparation and implementation of annual operating budget and capital improvement projects for Water Treatment, Laboratory Services, and Water Resource Services
3. Ability to plan and implement actions that ensure meeting all regulatory requirements for water treatment, production, pretreatment, watershed management, and laboratory services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices and materials. Knowledge of basic survey principles to establish elevation and linear line projections. Knowledge of accepted safety practices in grounds maintenance and traffic control.
Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations including percentages and multiplication in determining volume and surface area.
Ability to read and interpret contract specifications.
Ability to judge materials, methods, and workmanship in relation to requirements.
Ability to maintain records and reports.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to climbing, carrying, crawling, stooping, squatting, standing, seeing, driving, and writing. Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 90 pounds.
Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including, but not limited to calculator, photocopier, etc.
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent experience. Valid Texas Driver License, Class C. Ability to obtain pesticide applicator’s license within six months and irrigator’s license within twelve (12) months of employment.
