About the Department
The city of Roseville is currently accepting applications for the role of Limited Term Power Plant Engineer I/II. The City of Roseville owns and operates its own full-service, vertically integrated Electric Utility, including three power plant sites. This position is located at our Roseville Energy Park combined cycle power plant. Power Plant Engineers work within a team that supports all the operations and maintenance activities necessary for our generation fleet. Currently, this fleet consists of a 2x1 combined cycle plant (two Siemens SGT-800 gas turbines and one Siemens SST-900 steam turbine), and 4 simple cycle G.E. TM2500 gas turbines. In addition to the O&M support activities, Power Plant Engineers are responsible for the design and construction of capital upgrades to these facilities to improve efficiency, replace end-of-life systems and increase flexibility in the dynamic power supply market. Upcoming capital improvement projects include SCR replacements, evaporative cooling additions, gas compression additions, and electrical/control system upgrades.
An ideal candidate would be familiar with industrial process control, mechanical engineering (mechatronics or thermal/fluids concentration), or electrical engineering (power concentration). As this position will be in direct support of the engineering functions associated with power generation, familiarity with heavy industry or thermal power plants is a plus.

The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, occasional evening and weekend work may be required. A flex schedule may be available.
The current opening is a limited term, benefitted and full-time position. The term length for the current vacancy is not guaranteed but cannot exceed 36 months. The employment list that will be established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future regular, limited-term, and temporary vacancies.
The City of Roseville is committed to a diverse workforce. We are engaged in understanding the needs and backgrounds of our colleagues and those we serve. Our organization is unified in this commitment, as we believe this produces the best results for our community.
