Starbucks Supervisor
Department: Thelma's Deli Location: Louisville, KYThe Starbuck's Shift Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the caf�. This position is responsible for supervising and leading the barista team, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining high-quality coffee and beverage standards.
The Starbuck's Shift Supervisor helps create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for customers while ensuring that the caf� runs effectively during their shift.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Safety and Environmental Performance:
- Lead the safety effort by personal example.
- Support full hotel compliance with safety rules to further our goal of zero (0) accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
- Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure guest satisfaction and consistency to our customers.
- Immediately report all injuries to the supervisor or manager on duty and to the security manager on duty
Work Requirements:
Supervisory Duties: As a Starbuck's Shift Supervisor, you are responsible for leading and overseeing the barista team. This involves providing guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members to ensure smooth operations during your shift.
- Beverage Preparation: You should be proficient in the preparation of a variety of coffee and other beverages. This includes knowledge of coffee machines, espresso shots, milk frothing, and the creation of specialty drinks.
- Customer Service: Exceptional customer service is a priority. You must interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders, addressing inquiries, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
- Quality Control: Maintaining high standards for beverage quality, presentation, and consistency is crucial. Ensure that all drinks are prepared to company standards and that customers receive a consistently excellent product.
- Training and Development: Assist in training and developing barista staff, helping them improve their skills and knowledge about coffee, beverages, and customer service.
- Shift Management: Responsible for the overall operation of the coffee shop during your shift. This includes opening and closing duties, managing staffing levels, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of inventory levels, including coffee beans, syrups, pastries, and other supplies. Ensure that there are enough resources to meet customer demand and avoid running out of essential items.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce health and safety regulations, including food safety practices, cleanliness standards, and proper maintenance of equipment. Make certain that all staff members follow these guidelines.
- Cash Handling: Manage cash registers, handle cash transactions accurately, and maintain proper records of sales and financial transactions in accordance with company policies.
- Shift Scheduling: Assist in creating and managing employee shift schedules, ensuring that staffing levels are appropriate to meet the needs of the caf�, especially during peak hours and high occupancy in the hotel.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to higher management on shift activities, performance metrics, and customer feedback.
- Problem Solving: Be ready to address and resolve any issues that may arise during your shift, such as customer complaints, equipment malfunctions, or staffing concerns.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure that all employees follow company policies and guidelines, including dress code, conduct, and other established standards.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 Years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a caf�, coffee house or restaurant environment
- Understanding of coffee house operations
- Experience with payroll management
- Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow associates & managers.
