Project Assistant
Salary Grade 18: $61,811 - $70,591
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidates to fill the position of Project Assistant in the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Division of Addiction, Treatment and Recovery (ATAR), Bureau of Recovery and Social Needs to assist the project manager with planning, implementation, and monitoring of Young Adult Recovery Residence SAMHSA grant.
Candidates should have strong organizational, management, writing, and oral communication skills; ability to work cooperatively with diverse stakeholders; and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidate should have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment with changing needs and priorities. Experience working in a culturally diverse communities is an asset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Works in collaboration with Grants Management and Special Projects SOR Project Team on program implementation and reporting.
- Serves as a liaison between the Young Adult Recovery Residence (YA RR) program providers and OASAS. Initiate regular contact and check-ins with grantees.
- Helps to design and create tracking systems and facilitate reporting of data from providers.
- Monitors adherence to the scope of work, standards and housing safety requirements.
- Provides technical assistance on best practices for working with young adults 18 to 24 years of age.
- Assists with coordination of focus groups.
- Works collaboratively with the YA RR consultant from Fletcher Group.
- Work with Recovery Residence Team and Young Adult Services team in ATAR.
- Responsible for tasks with the overall Recovery Residences such as reviewing applications.
- Leads and schedules group meetings and collaborative sessions with providers.
- Collaborates with other OASAS Divisions, Bureaus and teams.
- Collaborates and meets with external providers that work with YA
- Travel - (including some overnight travel): 20%
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years professional experience with young adults and working knowledge of addiction prevention, treatment, harm reduction or recovery or
- Bachelor's degree, 1 year experience with young adults and 1 year experience working in recovery supports services, advocacy or treatment, OR
- Master's degree or J.D. with 1 year of professional experience as described in the first bullet, OR

- Candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, data tracking, data entry and Teams/WebEx, Outlook.
- Knowledge of Recovery Oriented systems of care, Homelessness, substance use disorder (SUD) and experience with young adults.
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
