Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

Manage, develop, and execute communications strategies to inform, engage, and inspire H-E-B Partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Manages and leads the day-to-day direction of the communications team; represents the communications team at all levels of the organization across all business areas.
- Directs content strategy and publication via print and digital communications channels including email, newsletters, presentations, video/event scripts, intranet, webinars, and digital collaboration platforms.
- Assigns and manages content at all stages of development, from ideation through publication; creates content for print and digital platforms; leads content development across the communications team.
- Develops, implements, and manages ongoing improvement of communications strategies and processes; applies understanding of business strategy and company goals to build communications strategies; uses metrics /data to analyze, maximize, and improve communications strategies; works closely with key stakeholders to develop communications strategies and plans that are aligned with company goals and values.
- Develops, maintains, and communicates internal style guidelines; maintains quality content, style, and usage consistent with standard industry principles, authoritative style resources, and internal branding.
- Leads projects and initiatives in support of internal communications objectives; leads meetings with the communications team and client groups, including senior leadership, to drive the business forward; manages editorial calendar themes and topics consistent with company-wide goals and priorities.
- Collaborates with H-E-B digital team on enhancements to digital communications channels, including the intranet, to best support communications strategies; collaborates with graphic designers, video/multimedia producers, and communications leaders to support business needs.
- Provides mentoring and guidance to communications team.
- Stays current and informed on relevant industry best practices and trends.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTS:

Leads supervisors and/or less experienced professionals (2 or more) who exercise latitude and independence. May lead one or more teams or departments, making decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments. Executes and modifies company policies, implementing new standards, products, processes, and mid-term business plans for assigned unit(s). Directs team to complete objectives-oriented assignments of by looking beyond existing methodologies and implementing strategic policies to resolve complex issues with significant cross-functional impact. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the group/function.


Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance/pay reviews.

Bachelor's/master's degree in a relevant field of education and/or work experience leading successful projects and coaching/mentoring others in a group or team/department. Completion of H-E-B leadership programs where applicable.

- 5+ years of communications experience including writing / editing / publishing content for print and digital communication channels; intranet management; and deployment of print, electronic, and face-to-face media strategies and techniques to support and execute business needs; graphic design experience preferred
- Ability to exercise confidentiality and demonstrate high integrity / professional standards
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with ability to collaborate with and develop rapport with Partners at all levels, including senior leadership, and to see projects through to completion
- Strong organization, project management, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage all components of communications campaigns including project kick-offs, timelines and budgets, contracts, recommendations, presentations, and analysis; strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects; ability to manage people for efficiency
- Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and digital collaboration platforms (Microsoft Teams, Slack)
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Function in a fast-paced, office environment
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
- Work extended hours; sit for extended periods
