Delivering 1 COLUMBIA and 2 VIRGINIA Class submarines each year is critical to our nation’s defense, and D931 needs you to help us achieve it! The Industrial Engineering Organization provides mission-critical support to EB Leadership and the functional organizations through implementation of the EB Production System, developing and managing the organization’s improvement strategies, measuring the impact of improvement activities, and establishing the processes for the simultaneous build of VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA class submarines.
The CAD Technician is an entry level position responsible for using custom designed software, Microsoft products and CAD functionality. This role works alongside Industrial Engineers and directly supports and impacts the processing and transferring of digital data to the shop floor. The role consists of nesting and programing cutting machines in support of both Steel and Sheetmetal processing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with production planning to supply operations the necessary nests and sketches
- Work with Accuracy control to ensure proper data points to reverse engineer parts
- Ability to support varying tasks and projects based on supervisory direction
- 3D modeling, drafting, programming and data retrieval
- Support Lot Based Manufacturing efforts
- Shop Floor support and interaction
- Review kickouts and errors and drive resolutions through multiple departments
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of Professional or Educational CAD Programming Experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel including Vlookup formulas, creating tables & charts
- Experience with technical drawings, geometric dimensions and tolerance callouts
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree in Drafting/Graphics or 2-year technical school degree
- Knowledge in Plasma and/or Laser cutting procedures and machinery
- Knowledge in the following softwares: Siemens NX, TeamCenter, CATIA
- Have an understanding of lean manufacturing
- Experience in submarine/ship manufacturing and production environments, particularly in areas of part fabrication, ship modular construction, sub-assembly erection and outfitting is strongly desired
- Strong communication skills and must be able to work in both a Team and individual environment
- Highly motivated problem solver
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize with minimal guidance
- Must possess the ability to work with all levels of customers
