Altus provides test & evaluation, maintenance and repair of facilities, and operation services required to implement the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) programs under the cognizance of the Aircraft Vulnerability Division for Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division China Lake, CA.
The WSL Test Range Photographer is responsible for collecting live test event photo and video data, including high speed video, to support Live Fire Test & Evaluation (LFT&E) of aircraft and systems. We are seeking an individual who can apply their Logistics experience to add value and make a strong impact supporting the NAWCWD/WSL mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform test range photography using special purpose still and video cameras and related equipment. Use of a wide range of photo and video equipment and software for assignments demanding exact renditions, without the opportunity for later retakes.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, assembly, modification, and setup of camera, video, and electronic control and timing systems used for unique test photography assignments. Equipment includes but is not limited to still, graphic, and motion picture cameras; video and television cameras; high speed camera systems, remote control devices; and timing or measurement control mechanisms.
- Assist with test site setup for precise photographic measurement and control equipment, using high speed photography, natural and synthetic light sources, and/or timed electronic triggering.
- Perform test site preparations and cleanup. Move and arrange photographic equipment as per test plan and Test Coordinator direction. Operate forklift and shop equipment as needed, including working from heights using aerial work platforms and appropriate fall protection PPE.
- Other tasking, as required to support customer requirements.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent. Formal military, college, trade school, or equivalent on-the-job training commensurate with duties.
- Minimum of five years hands-on experience in with a comprehensive knowledge of camera and photography equipment.
- Editing (Adobe Premier, Final Cut, etc.) and video (HD, 4k, High Speed) experience desired.
- Must have experience with documentation, cataloging, and/or data editing and reduction for photography and video data.
- Skilled with general hand tools and hand-held power tools.
- Possess a valid California driver�s license. U.S. Citizenship and a current U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required for hire and to be maintained throughout employment. All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
Specialized Experience
- Experience with high-speed video systems and associated software used for collection, editing, and video data reduction.
- Must be physically qualified to obtain appropriate forklift physical and perform duties in an outdoor range environment, including from heights with fall protection equipment.
- Must possess ability to work tactfully with professional engineers, technicians, and management staff on all levels of effort. Must have ability to interpret test plans and program requirements. Experience working at a government site/facility preferred.
- Prior material handling equipment (forklift) operator experience or ability to complete MHE training and certification within 90 days of start.
Work Conditions
Conditions will vary. Capable of working outdoors in temperatures ranging from 0�120 degrees. The position will include regular standing, bending, reaching, sitting, walking, and lifting. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Overtime may be necessary from time to time depending on workload. May also require occasional work from elevated platforms while using a fall protection harness.
