Communications Technician - Texas na SKT, Inc.

Communications 

• Assemble, install, test, splice, and maintain fiber wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Read blueprints or technical diagrams.
• Identify communication problems using a variety of testing tools and strategies
• Follow building codes/regulations based on the National Electrical Code.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to identify the cause and to correct the problem.

Driving

• Load material or equipment for transport from the shop to the jobsite and secure as appropriate
• Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites
• Operate all company vehicles in accordance with local laws/regulations in a safe and courteous manner
• Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle and immediately report any problems or damage, or maintenance issues to your manager or the fleet manager
• Keep assigned vehicles clean and orderly
• Comply with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules
• Complete a daily log and submit reports of mileage/hours covered at EOD
• Drive vehicle to worksites 

Safety

• Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program.
• Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
• Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others.
• Cooperate with safety personnel, supervisors, and managers to ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the company’s safety policies.
• Working environments often involve live electrical wires, so they can be quite dangerous if the proper precautions aren't taken.

Teamwork

• Participate as a vital crew member and contribute towards the success of the project and the organization
• Promote a team approach and maintain communications with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas
• Collaborate with other company personnel to meet organizational deadlines and objectives
• Complete daily reports and timecards and support the construction manager

Education

• High school diploma/GED required

Experience

• 3 yrs. in Communications systems installation and maintenance 

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration

• Current, valid driver’s license required (commercial driver’s license preferred) 
• Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card, if no CDL, due to gross weight on vehicles

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities

•  Work schedule will require open availability including weekends, holidays and overnights as determined by the needs of the business; must be flexible
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug test
