Logan Health, located in beautiful Kalispell, Montana, is seeking a dedicated Registered Dietitian or Registered Nurse to join our team as an Outpatient Diabetes Educator.
The ideal candidate will hold a CDCES or BC-ADM certification. However, we welcome applicants without an advanced certification, provided they obtain one of the required certifications within two years of hire and complete 15 hours of diabetes-related continuing education annually.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or Advanced degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in foods, nutrition, or nursing required.
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) or a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Montana or holding a valid multistate compact license.
Registered Dietitian applicants must be licensed by the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners to function as a Nutritionist.
Registered Dietitians with a pending application for Nutrition Licensure with the Montana Board of Medical Examiners may practice under direct supervision of a licensed RD until licensure is approved.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or Registered Nurse preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a specialty area preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, self-starter with critical thinking abilities, and the ability to set priorities and function as part of a team or independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally and diplomatically.
Job Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Patient Care & Education:
Assess, diagnose, and provide individualized diabetes and nutrition-related education and training interventions, including DSMES/DSMT, DPP, insulin administration, glucose monitoring, insulin pump use, and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) as appropriate.
Provide clinical diabetes education and nutrition services, consultations, and educational classes in assigned areas as appropriate.
Collaborative Healthcare & Professional Development:
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, collaborate with the healthcare team to assess patient needs and provide appropriate resources, and coordinate staff education.
Maintain current knowledge of professional, diabetes, and nutrition care standards as appropriate.
Mentor students and interns within the organization.
Documentation & Policy Management:
Utilize EHR systems to accurately document interventions, outcomes, and care plans.
Assist in reviewing and updating diabetes and nutrition-related policies and procedures as appropriate.
Community Engagement & Program Improvement:
Participate in organizational and community diabetes and nutrition initiatives, including performance improvement projects, patient education material updates, and awareness campaigns (e.g., National Diabetes Month, National Nutrition Month) as appropriate.
Professional Conduct & Resource Management:
Maintain professionalism in all interactions with patients, clients, physicians, facility staff, and the community.
Adhere to budget constraints by efficiently utilizing resources, including supplies, time management, and staffing.
Prioritize workload and maintain flexibility to meet departmental needs.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
