Assistant Grower na BALL HORTICULTURAL COMPANY

Description

Support the cultivation and production of high-quality greenhouse crops by applying horticultural knowledge, executing effective pest management strategies, and optimizing growing practices. This role is instrumental in greenhouse production and ensuring adherence to industry standards while driving consistent and sustainable crop production.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with plants/greenhouse environment or equivalent required 
• Education in horticulture is preferred
• At least one year of experience leading a small team in a greenhouse environment
• Required to obtain pesticide license and keep up to date on certification within six months of hire
• Effectively grow and maintain greenhouse program(s) as set by standards from either a Stakeholder or someone in a Grower or above position
• Accurately record data requested and be able to capture and present in an organized manner
• Apply chemical/IPM/biological applications as needed for program as directed by higher level growers
• Making presentations, recording data, and documenting programs, and making plant labels
• Participate in weekend watering schedule
• Scouts for diseases and insects and reports issues to Stakeholder
• Monitoring fertility and making fertilizer for their program
• Monitors greenhouse growing conditions, temperature and humidity to ensure ideal conditions for crops being grown
• Setting misting benches for new and existing propagative material 
• Maintaining a sanitary propagation area
• May lead a small team to execute long term tasks
• Level of Decision Making: In contact with Stakeholder, takes direction for program from higher level grower 
• Ability to prioritize tasks long term for themselves and a team
• Make suggestions and report on any issues, but ultimately relies on a higher level grower to approve any extra applications

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift/carry 45 lbs. up to 10% of the day
• Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs. up to 50% of the day
• Ability to push/pull 45 lbs. up to 50% of the day
• Ability to sit/stand up to 100% of the day
• Ability to kneel/bend up to 20% of the day
• Ability to reach up to 75% of the day
• Ability to climb/balance up to 5% of the day
• Ability to use hands/fingers up to 100% of the day
• Ability  to work in hot, humid greenhouse conditions environmental conditions for up to 80% of the day.

Pay Range: $19-$23 per hour
