Position Summary
The Asset-Based Lending (ABL) Originations VP plays a critical role in supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of ABL transactions for middle-market and large corporate clients. This individual will work closely with senior originators, credit partners, and internal and external stakeholders to deliver customized financing solutions that leverage a borrower’s assets. The role requires strong financial acumen, project management skills, sense of urgency and a client-centric mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior originators in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities.
- Conduct detailed financial and collateral analysis, including borrowing base modeling, liquidity assessments, and covenant sensitivity.
- Prepare and refine pitch books, term sheets, and client presentations tailored to specific industries and borrower profiles.
- Assist in structuring transactions, including revolvers, term loans, and unitranche facilities.
- Coordinate third-party due diligence (field exams, appraisals, legal counsel) and manage timelines for deal execution.
- Draft and review internal credit approval documents and risk assessments.
- Maintain and update pipeline reports, CRM systems, and deal tracking tools.
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and industry events to support relationship development.
- Assist in handoff of new deals to portfolio management teams.
- Contribute to internal process improvements, knowledge sharing, and training initiatives.

- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of ABL structures across various sectors and asset classes (e.g., manufacturing, retail, distribution, energy).

- In-depth understanding of asset-based loans and credit risk generally. Must be able to quickly assess the strengths, weaknesses and overall feasibility of a potential transaction
- Communication & Presentation: Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Relationship Management: Ability to build rapport with clients, internal teams, and third-party providers.
- Negotiation Support: Familiarity with key legal and structural terms in loan documentation.
- Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Excel (including advanced functions), PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is a plus.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities. Willingness to contribute where the team needs resources if business requires.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial lending, investment banking, credit analysis, or corporate finance. Asset-based lending experience preferred.
- Familiarity with asset-based lending structures, collateral types, and underwriting principles.
- Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and desire to grow within a high-performing team.
