About Our Opportunity
Under the direct supervision of the Printing Department Manager, the Prepress Technician is responsible for ensuring that digital files are prepared and formatted properly for printing. The position develops color separated files for proof approvals and print plate production. This position provides comprehensive graphic and technical support for proofing and plate-making workflows.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures all artwork meets required specifications, through pre-press means of formatting, trapping, imposition, applying press compensation curves, etc.
- Adjusts and manages color settings to ensure accurate color reproduction in printed materials.
- Creates and reviews proofs for color accuracy and quality, making necessary adjustments before the final print run.
- Operates and maintains prepress equipment such as proofers, spectrophotometers, densitometers, etc.
- Collaborates with designers, printers, and clients to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality results.
- Inspects final files and proofs for errors, ensuring all elements align with client specifications and industry standards.
- Troubleshoots flexographic printing issues with print operators.
- Maintains job files, archives, and department documentation and project database.
- Understands the flexographic printing process and the use of different substrates.
- Maintains a color-managed workstation.
- Understands plate-making and plate-mounting processes.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

- Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company in order to meet company goals.
- Analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
- Proficient in Macintosh and PC platforms, and the following software: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, CAD, Hybrid, and Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Windows platform,
- Understanding of CMYK, spot color, screened color, color separation, and Pantone to process conversion, photo manipulations, bleeds, traps, etc.
- Detail-oriented, able to multitask (coordinating several projects at one time), and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Must be a team player willing to help others when needed.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently with little direction.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma, Technical School Degree, or GED required; Associate’s Degree or Bachelors Degree preferred.
- One year of related experience and/or training in printing, prepress, or graphic design required.
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to spend time on the warehouse floor, which is not temperature controlled.
