General Purpose
Discover issues and help develop solutions that deliver better value to the business. Demonstrate and/or gain in-depth understanding of transportations business strategy, processes, services, roadmap, and the context in which the transportation business operates. Review transportations business operations and business metrics, assess evolving business ideas, liaise between transportation, dispatch, accounting, IT and communicate recommendations for improving business operations. Assist the business with solving problems, setting new objectives or goals, and achieving desired results with objectives or goals. Perform a full range of activities from leading small to large projects to assisting other analysts or project managers on larger more complex or highly visible projects related to operational business functions. Work independently and use best practices and knowledge to complete work. Mentor and function as a resource to other members of transportation with less experience or knowledge of transportation systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks, inefficiencies, issues, etc. Identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead projects, including those of a large or complex nature, from beginning to end; develop projects and monitor project performance
- Gather, review, and analyze business and industry data, including KPIs, financial reports and other key metrics using data analytics tools to help understand the situation
- Research emerging technologies or best practices that can help transportation
- Analyze and evaluate current business processes for areas of improvement; apply various techniques to business processes to create more efficiency, come up with solutions that work, and obtain desired results (SWOT analysis, mind mapping, PESTLE analysis, brainstorming)
- Analyze cost benefits
- Assess options for process improvement, including business process modeling
- Integrate research, team ideas, and client/customer feedback into solution requirements
- Present ideas and findings to manager and/or key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain documentation regarding various projects, processes and operations
- Recommend and coordinate the implementation of new systems, procedures, or changes
- Identify and communicate with key stakeholders. Liaise between various business departments and groups. Collaborate with users, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders
- Create ad-hoc reports, data queries, standard reports, and dashboards to support business needs
